Winning football games is a big part of Lane Kiffin’s life, but being a dad means even more to him. Lane is the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, a college football team. However, when he is not on the field, his heart belongs to his three children — Landry, Presley, and Monte Knox.
Lane Kiffin’s Family Life
Lane Kiffin was married to Layla Kiffin, and together they had three kids.
- Landry Kiffin was born in 2004.
- Presley Kiffin was born in 2006.
- Monte Knox Kiffin was born in 2009.
In 2016, Lane and Layla decided to get a divorce. At that time, Lane had moved from Los Angeles to Alabama to work as the offensive coordinator for the University of Alabama, while Layla and the children stayed in Los Angeles.
By 2020, Lane became the head coach at Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi. Landry joined him there for her senior year of high school and later started college at Ole Miss. Layla and Knox followed later, moving to Mississippi in 2025.
Even after the divorce, Lane and Layla have a friendly relationship. Lane has shared pictures of Layla at football games, showing that they still support each other as parents.
Knox once said in an ESPN documentary, “He’s more involved with us now that he’s at Ole Miss. He’s just been a whole different person.”
This shows how much Lane has grown as both a coach and a father.
Landry Kiffin – The Oldest Daughter
Landry Kiffin, born on December 13, 2004, is Lane and Layla’s first child.
She spent her first three years of high school in Los Angeles, where her dad once coached at the University of Southern California (USC). Later, she moved to Oxford, Mississippi, for her senior year of high school. Lane called this move his “second chance at being an in-person parent.”
Landry said in an ESPN special, “I hadn’t lived with him since before he went to Alabama. We definitely got a lot closer.”
When Lane was thinking about leaving Ole Miss for another coaching job, Landry and her friends made a slideshow with sad music to remind him how much they loved having him close. Lane said the gesture made him cry — and helped him decide to stay at Ole Miss.
Today, Landry is studying business administration at Ole Miss and is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
In September 2025, she made headlines when she announced her relationship with Whit Weeks, a linebacker for the LSU Tigers — one of Ole Miss’s biggest rivals! Despite the rivalry, the two seem very happy together.
Presley Kiffin – The Middle Child
Presley Kiffin, the second child, was born on October 19, 2006.
Like her dad, she has a strong connection to sports. In March 2024, Presley announced that she would play volleyball at USC, the same university where her father once coached football.
On Instagram, she wrote, “I am beyond grateful to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Southern California.”
Presley now plays as an outside hitter on the USC volleyball team. She is also studying communications and enjoying her freshman year in college. Presley often shares photos from her games and campus life on social media, showing how proud she is to be a USC Trojan.
Monte Knox Kiffin – The Youngest
Monte Knox Kiffin, often called Knox, is the youngest of the three children. He was born on January 13, 2009.
Knox’s name has a special story behind it. His middle name, Knox, is a nod to Knoxville, Tennessee, where his father once worked as head coach for the University of Tennessee Volunteers. It also honors Lane’s father, Monte Kiffin, who was one of the best defensive coordinators in NFL history. Sadly, Monte Kiffin passed away in 2024 at the age of 84.
Layla once explained, “We knew we wanted a name that started with ‘K.’ We were moving to Knoxville, and I asked, ‘Is that bad if we name him Knox?’ Lane said, ‘No, I think it’s great.’”
Now, Knox is following in his dad’s footsteps as a quarterback. He started high school in Los Angeles and then moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where he plays for Oxford High School. He’s already a top college football prospect for 2028 and has received offers from schools like Southern Methodist University (SMU), Sacramento State, and Florida International University (FIU).
The Bottom Line
Lane Kiffin may be famous for his football skills, but his most important job is being a dad. He has three kids who are making their own marks in sports and life — Landry, Presley, and Knox.
Even though life has changed for the Kiffin family since the divorce, they remain close and supportive. Lane’s bond with his children shows that, no matter how busy life gets, family always comes first.
From coaching on the sidelines to cheering in the stands, Lane Kiffin proves that love, teamwork, and family values never go out of style.
